Pet Admission Requirements
- Because all of our canine guests remain together and in close contact with our family and staff - these are the requirements that need to be met in order to attend Happy Puppy Paradise
Training level (pups are an exception):
• Responds to basic commands
• House trained
Social compatibility:
• No history of aggression with humans
• Social with other dogs (or passive) - NOT aggressive
• If your dog has been bitten, pinned or attacked by another dog its important that we know as we will schedule a separate assessment for you.
Vaccinations:
• Rabies
• Bordatella (Kennel Cough)
• DHPP or DAPP
• Titers is accepted
Neutered/ Spayed: Every dog must be neutered or spayed before sexual maturity - typically by 6 months. Some exceptions made.
Hygiene/ grooming: Nails trimmed, coat not malodorous
Behaviour assessment: Demonstrates social behaviour. Not fearful (timid is OK) and does not have high anxiety.
Breeds Not Permitted: Through experience we have found the following breeds to not be appropriate in a mixed group environment:
• Akita
• American Staffordshire
• Bull Terrier (Pitbull)
• Bull Mastif
• Coon Hounds
• Cane Corso
• German Shepherd
• Rottweiller
• Any dog who is a derivative of the above breed
If you have a mixed breed of the above list: Provided your dog has no history of aggression and is not dominant then call us to discuss.
Overnight Checklist
Essential Bring Alongs:
• Food: please pack enough for the number of nights stay. For high energy dogs please supply extra to allow for increased hunger from a high level of exercise. Pack food in a plastic resealable tub if possible. We accommodate raw food and special diets.
• Medication/ Vitamins: are to be marked with your pets' name and dosage details.
• A secure, proper fitting collar
• Any special-needs equipment or items.
• Updated vaccination records
Optional Comforts:
• We have hygienic sleep pads that we launder. If you prefer to bring your pets' bedding then please line it with a garbage bag. Do not bring giant pillows.
• Favorite snack or treat: We do provide natural snacks at no charge - with your permission.
What not to bring:
• Toys: To help prevent possessive behaviour - please do not bring your dogs' playthings. We will provide a multitude of safe toys chew bones, balls, etc.
• Food bowls - we assign a stainless steel food bowl that's cleaned after every meal for your pet's feedings.
• We have a variety of sizes of sleeping crates available for use if your dog is crate trained for sleeping.
